Afonso Lobo completed his studies in Engineering and Management of Information Systems at the University of Minho. He obtained his master's degree in July 2023 and subsequently embarked on a PhD program in Information Systems and Technologies (IST).

As a member of the ALGORITMI Research Centre, he is actively engaged in research within the eHealth and Medical Informatics domains. His work primarily focuses on developing Artificial Intelligence-based structures for hospital management and implementing Clinical Adaptive Business Intelligence systems, having already made a notable contribution to this field with a significant publication.

For his PhD thesis, Afonso is creating a Clinical Cognitive Decision Support System utilizing Explainable and Generative AI technologies. This project involves collaboration with various hospital units, highlighting its practical applications and potential impact on healthcare management.

In addition to his research pursuits, Afonso holds the position of Invited Assistant Professor at the Information Systems Department, School of Engineering, University of Minho, Portugal.
